A Northern gem- Photography & Videography by Kristie Crate

Living in the Manitoba Subarctic of Northern Canada, there are a lot of luxuries we are used to living without. What I pride the most in living here however, is that talented people really can develop the skills and experience to do great things because of the unique opportunity of our location.

Heart centered entrepreneurs are my people. When I get to find them here at home in the wild north, it is truly a blessing.

A yogiographer as I like to call them, is not only a photographer or videographer that understands the concept of the magical yoga experience, and is skilled in their trade, but also understands, well, yoga. Alignment and integrity is crucial to us yogis in the frame, and not just any photographer can take on that task. Kristie rose to the challenge and nailed every shoot and experience.

Kristie is the balance needed for us to create great things together.

She is the Yang to my Yin- the Aries to my Libra.

As a yogi, (Ok, and as a crazy mamapreneur,)I need to constantly remind myself to come back down to earth and stay grounded. I love love love our time together.

This year we have worked on so many projects together, and Kristie has produced the majority of the pictures and videos for most of my content. Check out the boss in action.

It’s summertime here in Northern Manitoba- our days are long, the sun is never ending, and we know in a few short months the snow will fly, so we need to take advantage of the heat and sunshine. But for some of us, this is the worst time of year.

I was blessed to grow up in the beautiful Boreal forest of northern Manitoba Canada on Treaty 5 territory, where I was raised amidst the rich legacies, wisdom, and enduring resilience of First Nations and Inuit peoples. Today, as my business operates out of southern Manitoba, situated on Treaty 1 territory, the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Dakota and Red River Metis, I respectfully acknowledge that these lands have always been Indigenous lands.

I am forever grateful for the impact First Nations culture and spirituality have had on my life and value their partnerships and friendships made across this land. I am committed to ongoing education, reflection, and action. I am conscious of the painful impacts of colonization and the continued work needed to address its legacy.
